God of War is one of the most popular action-adventure video games of all time. In this game, the main protagonist, Kratos – The God of War, goes against Greek and Norse gods only for vengeance. The first three installments of God of War were based on Greek mythology, in which Kratos fought against Zeus, Hercules, Ares, Poseidon, Athena, and many more.
GOW’s Greek saga had 3 official chapters developed before 2010 with low-quality graphics, but now they’re about to be remade/remake/remaster – whatever term you prefer.
- God of War I (2005)
- God of War II (2007)
- God of War III (2010)
However, if you are a lover of God of War, then let me give you the good news. It’s said that there’s going to be a God of War Remake of all 3 installments of the Greek. In this God of War remake, the trilogy will be developed with more advanced graphics using Unreal Engine 5 and high-quality music.
So, let’s see what big change is going to happen in this remake, or are these only rumors?
Is this “God of War Remake” Announcement Official?
As Santa Monica Studio doesn’t seem to be planning a remaster, fans will have to show us what it could be like using Unreal Engine 5.
Youtuber TeaserPlay has done exactly that, showcasing the 2005 game God of War in its current engine. As the creator writes, “We will imagine a God of War remake using next-generation graphics, a great nostalgic game we need now.” In order to recreate Kratos and Zeus’ faces, we used Lumen, Nanite, Ray Tracing, and Metahuman.
This trailer shows a young Kratos meeting the king of the Gods, Zeus, who we see in retrospect as a young Kratos in the original game. As our Spartan warrior travels through Ancient Greece, battling enemies at the temples of the Gods and visiting the temples of the ancient gods, we see a world filled with history and mythology.
It’s no surprise that the comment section is full of praise, with many fans expressing an eagerness for an official remake. We can only hope that Santa Monica Studio is in the process of developing it.

I have also done some digging in the comment sections and find out some of the best yet amazing comments.
One commenter said: “It should be a dream having a remake of GoW 1 and 2. And I wish for Ghost of Sparta and Chain of Olympus too, great games.”
Another person said: “I can see where it needs some polish, but you did a fantastic job of showing what can actually be done now to bring the entire God of War series to the current generation of game consoles and pc.”
Here’s what I see another person comment: “This feels like a dream. Hopefully, we will get a proper remaster of all games one day.”
What My Opinion – Should There be a Remake for God of War?
Absolutely! As a huge fan of Kratos and his rage, I believe a God of War remake would be fantastic. The game’s story and characters are deeply compelling, and experiencing them with updated graphics and gameplay would be incredible.
As a fan of Kratos and his rage, I don’t ever want this game to end. I don’t want Kratos to die. There’s a prophecy we have seen in the God of War (2018) in Jotunheim, where Kratos is lying deadly in the hands of Atreus, but I truly want this to happen.
The rage of Kratos is what drives me and engages me to play this game whenever I’m free. So, if there’s an enthusiast like me who loves God of War may also want the God of War to never end. And they will also be in favor of the God of War remake.
Let’s say what Santa Monica Studio surprises with us!
